The annual meeting of the Iowa Freedom of Information Council will be held on Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Des Moines Register community room, located on the ground floor of Capital Square, the downtown Des Moines office building that now houses the Register’s offices.
The meeting begins at 2:30 p.m. and should wrap up about 4:30 p.m.
The meeting is open to the public. All members of the Iowa FOI Council, journalists other interested people are invited to attend. (You can’t be an organization with “freedom of information” in your name and then try to impose secrecy on your meetings.)
We hope lots of people interested in open government and issues involving government accountability will attend the meeting.
We are eager to hear your comments and suggestions about the work we do. We will update you on some of the issues we are pursuing — in the courts and in the Iowqa Legislature. We will update everyone on our finances, too, and will set the council’s goals for 2019.
We hope to see many of you on Sept. 27.
